In this role you, working closely with ABB's Group Head of Antibribery & Corruption, Trade and Human Rights and Senior Counsel, you will be responsible for providing legal subject matter expertise, advice and counsel across ABB's Business Areas, Legal & Integrity and Trade Compliance networks on global trade legal and enforcement related matters. The location of the role is flexible globally.

Your responsibilities

  • Ensure the accurate provision of advice and counsel to ABB's Businesses, Functions, Legal & Integrity colleagues and Trade Compliance network regarding all aspects of global trade compliance - with an emphasis on EU, Swiss and US laws.
  • Monitoring new legal developments in this area across the totality of ABB's operational footprint.
  • Support the creation and enhancement of all policies, procedures, guidance and training needed by the Business Areas and Divisions and Trade Compliance Network.
  • Support the Legal & Integrity relationship with Business Area Heads of Integrity, Division Legal Counsels, Legal Counsels and Trade Compliance Network teammates.
  • Support the design and continual enhancement of associated policies and procedures in collaboration with Legal & Integrity and Trade Compliance Network teammates to ensure ABB has "best in class" Trade Compliance processes.
  • Support Trade Compliance testing strategy for implementation by the Business and Internal Audit, as appropriate.
  • Support the design and execution monitoring program to test Business Area and Division compliance with the requirements of the Trade Compliance program.
  • Ensure effective communication of Trade Compliance processes are maintained throughout assigned area and provide appropriate training and communication materials for onward transmission to the business.
  • Guide, motivate and develop the professionals in the Legal & Integrity & Trade Compliance Network teams.
Your background

  • Law Degree and qualified lawyer.
  • 6+ years of post qualified experience (pqe) in private practice/in-house experience, including trade compliance advisory work or investigations, ideally in industrial, extractives, or defence sectors
  • Experience working within a multijurisdictional team across cultures and time zones with an emphasis on inclusion
  • Excellent matter/case management and communication skills
  • Fluency in English required; other languages are an advantage.
