Position Description

The position is accountable for preparing and participating in United States Cellular Corporation's ("USCC") external financial reporting responsibilities (both SEC and non-SEC reporting), internal/management reporting and financial statement analysis, and the consolidation process.

1. External Reporting - Responsible for preparing financial information to be provided to parties outside of USCC.

Prepare all financial, operational and statistical data used in reports to parent company personnel, investors, shareholders, partners and others to assure the accuracy, completeness and consistency of such data.
Prepare quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements - balance sheets, income statements, cash flows, and related footnote and supporting materials, in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and SEC rules and regulations.
Maintain reporting requirements for external partnerships and investments including preparation of financial information, attendance at quarterly and annual meetings, and analysis of results.

2. SEC Reporting - Responsible for activities such as:

Assist in the preparation of periodic reports (10-Q, 10-K, 8-K, etc) with the SEC for USCC.
Assist in writing the Management's Discussion and Analysis of Results of Operations and Financial Condition (MD&A) for USCC.
Prepare financial information required in registration statements filed with the SEC and work closely with the attorneys, underwriters, and treasury group in the preparation of the document as a whole.
Research SEC accounting and reporting issues.

3. Internal Management Reporting - provide relevant, timely and accurate internal reporting to senior management of the company. Responsible for:

Understanding USCC's business and drivers of business results, and the ability to communicate them to senior management in a succinct and effective manner.
Review financials and analytics in a collaborative manner for departments within the U.S. Cellular Controller's organization.

4. Complete special projects and analyses as requested by USCC senior management.

(Note: Many of these key roles and responsibilities are carried out in coordination with Telephone and Data Systems, Inc. ("TDS") corporate personnel. Although USCC is a separately-reporting public company, its accounting policies and practices must be consistent with those of TDS, its parent company.)

Bachelor's degree in accounting; CPA preferred and MBA desirable.
Minimum of three to five years experience, which must include positions responsible for financial statement preparation and consolidation activities; including both external/SEC reporting and internal management reporting.
Previous experience in Big 4 public accounting firm preferred; previous experience in and telecommunications industry desirable.
